Works by Marie DesMarais

at the PRIMER Microstudio
Opening First Friday, August 7th
Doors open at 6:00pm

Marie is an artist, jewelry maker and teacher living in the East Kensington section of Philadelphia. Her work is comprised of whimsical forms and colors that combine with found materials such as maps, fabric, wood and glass to create landscapes that mimic both aerial views and microscopic images and parallel the interaction between man and nature. A graduate of the Temple University Tyler School of Art, Marie has been exhibiting throughout Philadelphia, recently at the Proximity and Bambi Galleries as well as at the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival, the Memphis Flats development and North Bowl. You can see some of Marie’s past work here.

If you can’t make it to the opening, the gallery is open during normal business hours (after hours by appointment), and the exhibition will be on display all month long. We are easily accessible from Philadelphia via the R2 line (the train station is a block from the gallery) and I-95. More information and directions here.

Big Art Show: Call for Artists

Posted by Todd Hestand on July 24, 2009
General / No Comments

Big Art Show is having a show next week at their new Pterodactyl art space in North Philly! It’s going to be an impromptu Pterodactyl fundraiser/party with bands and art. Big Art Show is looking for between 10 and 20 artists to show their work at the event. “We want to keep it fun and casual, but you’ll still get a good amount of space to show work. We’re also looking for some video to play at the event (sound might me an issue because of the bands, so ideally it wouldn’t be a must for your video to have sound).” If you’re interested send an e-mail to info@pterodactylphiladelphia.org to work out the details.

@ Pterodactyl
3237 Amber St, 5th floor
Philadelphia, PA 19134
